The Sitio Carmel is located between the cities of Piracaia and Joanopolis, only 1 hour away from the capital Sao Paulo and 45 minutes from the international airport Guarulhos. Due to an excellent new high way from Sao Paulo, the Sitio can be accessed easily.
The Sitio Carmel is situated in the Atlantic rain forest of Brazil’s coast area, named "Mata Atlantica", which has the world’s richest biodiversity. It contains a distinct range of species with a high level of endemism and reveals a pattern of evolution that is not only of great scientific interest but also of importance for environment conservation. The structure of the Atlantic Forest contains multiple canopies that support an extremely rich vegetation mix. This includes an astonishing diversity of ferns, mosses and epiphytes (“air plants” or plants that attach to other plants), including lianes, orchids and bromelias.
